In the spring of 1994, fate brought us together through our dear friend Paul Dubendris, whose memory we cherish to this day. Richard had lost his partner Tom to AIDS the previous year, while Tim's partner Burt was in the final stages of his battle with the disease. As we navigated the depths of grief, we found solace and companionship in each other's company.
Our journey together began in San Francisco's charming Westwood Highlands neighborhood, where we purchased our first home in 1997. The quaint streets and picturesque houses of this small enclave provided a perfect backdrop for the start of our shared life. A few years later, drawn by the allure of desert living, we relocated to our dream hacienda in Palm Springs, where we spent a decade.
Now, we've found our slice of paradise on the "Island Kingdom" of Alameda. Our current residence, a true "jewel box," holds an unparalleled place in our hearts. Its charm and character reflect the love and memories we've built over the years.
As we celebrate three decades together, we marvel at the path we've traveled. Our home has been graced by a parade of beloved cats and dogs, each leaving indelible paw prints on our hearts. Through it all, we've remained steadfast companions, savoring life's precious moments and facing its challenges hand in hand.
From the fog-kissed hills of San Francisco to the sun-drenched oasis of Palm Springs, and now the tranquil shores of Alameda, our love has flourished in every setting. As we look back on thirty years of laughter, growth, and unwavering support, we're grateful for the twist of fate that brought us together and the enduring bond we've forged.
